Paint and Upholstery

Scott began the paint process with skim coats of body filler and sanding…

Followed by a couple of guide coats of primer for the next round of sanding…

Preliminary assembly of the interior was performed so that Isadora could go to the upholstery shop for an initial fitting of the convertible top and interior details without having to worry about damaging the final paint job.

After Isadora returned from the upholstery shop, Scott laid down a solid coat of epoxy sealer to act as a base for the final paint.

After the epoxy cured, the base coat went down…

And, then the clear…

Back to the upholstery shop for final assembly…
The seats were removed from the donor and upholstered in a soft, two tone leather. To make the front seats more visually appealing, the original head rest was removed and an integral head rest was molded into each seat.

The door panels started life as stock 67 deluxe door panels but were wrapped in vinyl and trimmed to fit around the dash inset area. The stock steel doors were wrapped in vinyl for a more elegant look. Power window switches were mounted on the arm rests.

Rear quarter trim panels were fabricated to accomodate the modern seat belts and stereo speakers.

The tonneau cover was designed to be sleek looking and fasten underneath the stainless trim piece. The stainless piece was modified and lengthened to fit the more radical curve of the fast back rear quarters.
